CODE OF ETHICS

I. INTRODUCTION

This Code of Ethics is mandatory for every participant in Best College, including - but not only - teachers, users, clients and the team of Best College ltd.

The Code presents the standards for ethical conduct of the participants in the virtual educational environment. The content of the Code aims to define the moral responsibilities of every participant in the College and to support the participants’ creative presence in the virtual educational environment.

II.PURPOSE AND GOALS

PURPOSE of the Code of Ethics:

This Code defines the ethical aspects of communication applied in the educational environment of Best College.

GOALS OF THE CODE OF ETHICS:

The main goals of the Code of Ethics are:

  • to present the main values and principles, which the participants in the College should know and comply with;
  • to affirm the will and drive of the participants to be ethical in their practical activity;
  • to guide the conduct of the participants and to assist them in solving the ethical dilemmas which they are faced with in their practice;
  • to present the moral responsibilities of the participants to each other, to their family and society;
  • to outline and preserve the respectful communication and behavior among all the participants in Best College;
  • to define the unacceptable cases, which violate the principles of respectful behaviour, and to establish the actions that can be undertaken on behalf of Best College to protect the interest of all the participants.

III. SCOPE

GENERAL PROVISIONS

  1. The development of the student’s potential is the main priority of Best College. The College is created to be of service to the student and aims to maximize its usefulness to every user, irrespective of his/her age.
  2. The processes of teaching and educating are inextricably linked, although they are applied in constantly changing proportions, depending on the age of the student.
  3. The cooperation and mutual assistance among all the participants are the main factors facilitating the process of acquisition of long-lasting knowledge and practical skills.
  4. The Best College supports an environment of teamwork, tolerant interaction, freedom and respect for every unique individuality, as well as political, ethnical and religious neutrality.
  5. Best College supports the principle of avoidance of harm to others. The atmosphere in the College has to be constructive and creative, and not destructive. The College aims to bring the best qualities in every student and to encourage the drive for perfection in an individual and community aspect.
  6. Best College provides an accessible environment for self-improvement and self-awareness through a productive balance between flexible supervision and individual freedom of every participant.

SPECIFIC PROVISIONS

RELATED TO THE STUDENT:

  1. The student has his own profile and uses Best College as a source for development of his knowledge, skills and competencies in the chosen fields of interest.
  2. The relationship between the student and the teacher should be grounded in good manners - proactive, polite and respectful.
  3. The relationship between the student and his fellow students in Best College should be governed by good manners and friendship.
  4. The student should consider carefully and responsibly his/her comments to the other participants, and should seek a suitable way for expressing them.
  5. The student may and should demand from the teacher the necessary attention to assist him/her in the learning process. The teacher has all the necessary tools to deliver the information in a way suitable to the individual needs of the student.
  6. Best College explicitly prohibits the recording of video and audio information from the teaching process, with the purpose of making it available to other individuals outside the College or its publishing on the Internet.
  7. The student should not infringe on the individual rights and dignity of the other participants in the Best College.

RELATED TO THE TEACHER:

  1. The teacher follows the working methodology suitable for the online environment by treating the individuality of every student with respect, and uses the potential of the software for this purpose.
  2. The teacher possesses a particular set of personal, moral and social skills, as well as the necessary competence and qualification to deliver a high-quality educational service.
  3. The language used in the communication process should be accessible and respectful, avoiding any elements of arogance and excessive insistence. The teaching materials used, based on the discretion of the teacher, should not violate the rules and norms of this Code of Ethics.
  4. The teacher should regularly provide feedback about the student’s progress in an objective and encouraging way. In case of communication problems with the student, he can seek assistance from the parents/guardians of the student.
  5. The teacher should take into account the specifics of the teaching process in a virtual environment, including but not only: to have a neat and presentable look, to consider the appropriate position in front of the camera, and to secure an environment without external noise.
  6. The teacher should not receive any gifts or other tokens of gratitude, which would create a conflict of interest or may be used for personal benefit.
  7. The teacher shall not disseminate or share his/her impressions from his/her students in Best College, with other individuals, including with other students in the College, if his/her opinions would in any way be harmful to the students’ dignity and honour. Discretion and respect to the individuality are key principles, which should be followed.

RELATED TO THE PARENT/GUARDIAN:

  1. The parents/guardians are partners and participants in the teaching and educating process.
  2. The parent/guardian cooperates with the teachers and Best College for the provision of a mutually beneficial educational process. He may provide information about the characteristics of the individuality of the student or his current emotional and health status, with the purpose of achieving a better efficiency in the teaching process associated with a certain teacher or topic of study.
  3. The parent/guardian has the right to freely discuss his critical views about the teaching process with the College team, but also with the students. This approach complies with the principles of discretion and respectfullness, which shall be observed by all participants.
  4. The parent/guardian should protect and respect the good reputation of the teachers in Best College. It is unacceptable to make public statements, which would harm the reputation of the participants in Best College.

IV. VIOLATONS OF THE CODE OF ETHICS AND RELATED SANCTIONS

RELATED TO THE STUDENT:

  1. In case that a student systematically shows non-compliance with the requirements of the teacher or has a disrespectful behavior towards the teacher or his/her fellow students, Best College may limit or terminate his/her access to the College. The parent/guardian of the student will be informed about the violation, and if needed and requested by the parent, Best College may provide assistance for a counseling session.
  2. In case that a student publishes information, related to his/her fellow students or teachers, which may harm their dignity or honour, Best College shall terminate his/her access. In case of a serious violation, the parents/guardians of the student and of the offended students will be informed about it, as well as the relevant public institutions. Every encroachment on the personal space of a student will be sanctioned by Proznanie College.

RELATED TO THE TEACHER AND PARENT/GUARDIAN:

  1. Every violation of this Code of Ethics on behalf of the teacher or parent/guardian will be sanctioned by Best College in favor of the interests of the students.

V. OTHER PROVISIONS

  1. This Code of Ethics regulates the relationship among all the participants in Best College taking into account their particular role in the educational process. The definitions used for every participant – student, parent/guardian, teacher, should be interpreted substantially, and not literally.
  2. Best College preserves the right to make modifications to this Code of Ethics, in accordance with the best practices, the regulatory requirements and rules (both National and European ones).
